Using old van bodies for storage was a trick that many railway companies used. The only identification found on this historic van were its original number 37150 and its load and tare values. These were hidden under many coats of paint received when it was a farm building.
These grounded bodies were normally painted black, but in this form our van would have lost it's original identity.
After consulting the owner, we painted the van in GWR brown with lettering on both ends and the side facing the car park. We painted the platform side in black so that it looks correct as a grounded van body.
