Horse Trough

This Horse Trough has been cast from a mould prepared by the Friends from a original trough recovered from Wolverhampton Road, Sedgely.

The original was thought to date from the early 1920's. It was provided by a local Animal lover who took pity on Horses that had to pull heavy carts up a steep hill. It was found in a derelict condition in an adjoining field.

In October 1997, following consultation with the land owner and the local council, the original was recovered to Kidderminster. In Jan 2001, it was donated by the Friends back to Sedgely, where a local heritage project gave it back its' true historic position and status. Before its departure, we cast a perfect copy. It is seen above providing a welcome relief for 'Truman', during a Heavy Horse Weekend.
