This G.W.R hand cart was obtained many years ago by Malcolm Broadhurst.
It's rubber tyres had disintegrated over time. We contacted the Veteran-Cycle Club hoping to purchase solid tyres but the cost of £400 proved prohibitive.
Tyres of that period were made of solid rubber with a wire spring moulded in the middle.
Bob duplicated this by using fencing wire with the ends bent over. The new tyre was compressed and the wire ends hooked together. When the rubber was released it lengthened to complete the circle which was then sprung onto the rim.
The hand cart is now back on display painted in 'Factory Brown' and lettered out.
